What to Put on Your Tax Preparation Business Website

You need a website. It doesn’t need to be expensive or elaborate. It needs to be professional, clear, and functional. Here’s what to include.

Your Name and Credentials

People want to know who they’re trusting with their taxes. Include your full name, your credentials (PTIN holder, AFSP participant, enrolled agent if applicable), and a brief bio. A professional headshot adds credibility.

Your Services

List the types of returns you prepare (individual, small business, self-employed) and any additional services (bookkeeping, tax planning, estimated tax support). Be specific enough that a visitor knows whether you can help them.

Your Pricing (or a Range)

You don’t have to publish exact fees, but giving a starting range (“Individual returns starting at $200”) sets expectations and filters out price shoppers. If you prefer to quote after a consultation, say so clearly and make it easy to schedule one.

Your Location and Service Area

If you see clients in person, include your address. If you work virtually, state that you serve clients in [your state] or nationwide (depending on your practice). If you work from home and don’t want to publish your address, a virtual office address or simply your city works.

Contact Information and Scheduling

Phone number, email, and ideally an online scheduling link. A visitor who can book a consultation directly from your website is more likely to become a client than one who has to call and leave a message.

A Secure Client Portal Link

If your tax software includes a client portal (most do), link to it from your website. This gives existing clients a quick way to upload documents and gives new clients confidence that you handle sensitive information securely.

Client Reviews or Testimonials

Embed your Google reviews or include testimonials (with permission) from satisfied clients. Social proof is one of the strongest conversion tools available.

What You Don’t Need

A blog (unless you’re going to maintain it). Animated graphics. Stock photos of calculators. A ten-page site. A one-to-three-page clean site that loads fast, looks professional, and makes it easy to contact you is all you need in your first year.
